About Fontana Type

Fontana Type Foundry (Hungary) was founded in 1999. This workshop main goals are: to continue te best Hungarian tradition in typographics and to discover new ways, as well. According to our goals, the typefaces of Fontana represent boath the Hungarian tradition and the maya reliefs and even the computing problems of the millennium.

Kóthay, Gábor
• He was born July 19th, 1962. He works as a graphic designer and teaches second-form art students. Typeface design was a hobby for many years but it has become an everyday routine with Fontmunkások and Fontana Type Foundry. He lives with his wife and two daughters in a suburb of Szeged, a sunny southern Hungarian town that lies on the banks of the Tisza river.

Szegi, Amondó
• He is a Hungarian freelance designer, painter and performer. He has previously worked as a newspaper editor, bookshop assistant, electrician and boilerman. Amondo is the co-founder of Fontana Type Foundry and has designed typefaces for many years. He currently lives in Budapest.
